Admin📊 Collection Values Are Getting an Upgrade
We’ve been working behind the scenes on how Elite Figs calculates collection values, and this is a much bigger change than simply attaching a dollar amount to every figure.
The goal is to make collection values more representative of the actual secondary market, while also preventing unusual sales data from producing ridiculous numbers.
What’s changing?
We’ve completed an automated market-data test using 100 non-standard AEW Jazwares releases, specifically focusing on the figures and products that are harder to value accurately:
* Exclusives
* Chases
* Rares
* Variants
* 2-Packs
* 3-Packs
* 4-Packs
* Other special releases
The test is helping us identify where automated secondary-market data is reliable and where it needs adjustment.
New valuation approach
Elite Figs will now distinguish between several types of valuation data.
Market-derived values
When sufficient market data is available, the system uses the median observed sale price rather than simply grabbing the highest or lowest sale.
CompSniper calibration
Because we identified inconsistencies between automated sold-market data and the real-world prices we’ve observed, CompSniper-derived values receive a specific calibration adjustment in the $15-$40 range.
Clearance figures
We’ve also incorporated a list of historically overproduced AEW Jazwares figures that were heavily discounted at retailers such as Walmart and Ross. Those figures have their own established baseline values rather than allowing an unusual secondary-market sale to inflate their worth.
Retail-based values
Figures without sufficient distinct secondary-market data will use a valuation model representative of their retail pricing. This provides a consistent starting point for figures where reliable market evidence isn’t available.
A note about collection values
All values displayed by Elite Figs are estimates, not guaranteed selling prices or appraisals. Actual market prices can be higher or lower depending on current demand, condition, availability, timing, and other factors.
The goal is to provide collectors with a useful estimated picture of what their collection may be worth, while recognizing that the actual market ultimately determines the price.
